The Keagan Kirkby Stable Staff Charity Race

On Sunday 26 October at our Horatio's Garden Charity Day, we will introduce the Keagan Kirkby Perpetual Trophy in memory of Keagan Kirkby, who tragically lost his life in a fall at the Charing point-to-point in February. Keagan, a much-loved and respected member of Paul Nicholls’ team, made a lasting impact on those around him. His loss was deeply felt across the racing community, both locally and beyond.

The trophy will be awarded annually as part of a stable staff charity race, created to celebrate Keagan’s life and passion for racing. This year’s race will be run in support of Wincanton’s Charity of the Year, Horatio’s Garden.

About Horatio's Garden

At Horatio’s Garden we know that people with spinal injuries need natural beauty to support their recovery. This is why we build and look after extraordinary gardens in the heart of NHS spinal injury centres.

Spinal injury can happen to anyone at any time. The results are life-changing and devastating. On average, people spend between three to nine months in a specialist spinal injury centre, often far from home.

We know how critical it is to have an incredible garden on offer right outside the hospital ward as a transformational part of the rehabilitation pathway. These are places for reflection and adjustment, privacy and solace, joy and companionship. We lead gardening sessions, run arts workshops, and offer a programme of live music and events – all year round.

We have now opened gardens in eight of the 11 NHS spinal injury centres in the UK. Our vision is for everyone with a spinal injury to have a Horatio’s Garden as part of their rehabilitation care.
