Join us for the William Hill Grand National Trial Day, an action-packed day of racing as potential candidates for Aintree lay their Randox Grand National credentials on the line.
Haydock Park can boast one of the very few recognised Grand National Trials on offer each year and this race offers up a stern test of stamina, something which the hugely progressive Lord Du Mesnil relished when winning for Richard Hobson in 2021.

William Hill Launches £500,000 ‘Half a Mill’ Grand National Bonus
William Hill are excited to announce the ‘William Hill Half a Mill’ bonus series, offering £500,000 to connections of any horse that can win both a key trial race and the Randox Grand National in the same season.
The bonus applies to winners of the William Hill Becher Chase (Aintree), Classic Chase (Warwick) and Grand National Trial (Haydock) who go on to triumph in the Randox Grand National at Aintree on 11 April 2026, doubling potential prize money to £1 million.
This new initiative rewards ambition and aims to reignite the competitive road to the National, echoing legends like One For Arthur, winner of the Classic Chase and Grand National in 2017.

The race that shapes champions

Haydock Park can boast one of the very few recognised Grand National Trials held each year, a race that winners take in stride.
Over the years, it has produced some remarkable champions, including Lord Du Mesnil (2021), who impressed with his staying power for trainer Richard Hobson. Past winners such as Red Rum, Cool Ground, and Master Oats went on to shine at the Cheltenham Festival and Aintree, cementing the Trial’s reputation as a proving ground for future stars of National Hunt racing
